The Best Skateboard Wheels for Cruising 2022 [Review and Guide]

Updated Feb 17, 2022The Best Skateboard Wheels for Cruising
If you like cruising, then you need the best skateboard wheels for cruising. Unlike some of the sports in the world that we come across, skateboarding is all about the equipment. You can be an excellent rider, but if you have the wrong skateboard or skateboard equipment, it’ll drag down your performance and eventually your enthusiasm for the sport of skateboarding.

Simply put, a rider is only as good as the equipment he, or she is using. This means you must be knowledgeable to have the best skateboard that fits your style.

Thinking about that, we had the thought that as much as the board, what kind of wheels you’re using are so important to what kind of rider you are. If you’re looking for more aggressive wheels and for the streets, then we’ve already researched for you. But if you want wheels for longboards or wheels that are designed for cruising, we’ve done that research for you as well right here.

What to look for in Skateboard Wheels for Cruising

Our research has led us to make a shortlist of the best skateboard wheels for cruising. We’ve done a great deal of research to make sure that we’ve selected the perfect wheels, and that we’ve given you the choice to choose exactly the right wheels for you so that any of our selections will have you cruising in no time.

Our process was to research our wheels and determine the best choices by a series of categories. We focused our research and made our decisions based on the following categories:

Size and Durability

Since these were the most important factors to research, we made sure to do all our homework. We spent a lot of time analyzing and deciding on wheels based on both the diameter and durometer of each wheel we looked at. If you’re familiar with how to judge wheels then you’ll understand our process of choices, but if you don’t we’re going to explain it to you now.

Diameter

Skateboard wheels are measured by both diameter and durometer. The diameter is the size of the wheel, and the durometer is the hardness of the wheel. Wheel diameter is measured in millimeters (mm). The lower the number, the smaller the wheel. It’s that simple.

The majority of wheels range from 50-75 mm. Our choices all fall into the range. The smaller the wheel is, the slower the ride will be. The opposite can be said for larger wheels. Wheel diameter is directly tied to how fast, or slow you accelerate and how tightly you can turn.

Durometer

The Durometer is how you measure the wheel’s hardness. This works very similarly to the size judgments, the higher the number, the harder the wheel will be. The average wheel durometer is 99a. Since our search was to find wheels designed for cruising, the wheels we found were softer because they will make for a slower ride and offer a better grip.

Pavement tends to be bumpy and cracked, so a set of wheels that will ease the rattle of the road will make your board feel and perform much better.

There was a lot of information to consider, but we did our research and our choices passed all of our tests. As well as another.

Affordable Price

Our idea here and how we executed our research and choices were to pick the best wheels for cruising at the best prices available. We understand that the price is always a concern. Any wheel we put on this list had to have the proper soft wheel and size to give the best experience riding for an affordable price.

As we moved through our research, we also realized that our need to give selection rather than selecting the same kind of wheel at all times was also important. We wanted variety to be just as important as price for our selections. We’ve been able to make our selections and the price of those choices is a max of $40 for any of our choice wheels.

Material

This is extremely important since the price and size of the wheel are useless if they aren’t made of the right material. The majority of all skateboard wheels are made from a hard composite material called polyurethane. This is what allows the characteristics of the wheels, such as durability and resistance to abrasion. Most of our wheels on this list are made of urethane. Co-founder of the Independent Trucks Fausto Vitello explained why urethane was perfect for wheels.

With all that in mind, we have complete confidence in our wheels and what they’re made of, and what makes them the best skateboard wheels for cruising.

Our Decision

Here is our list of the best skateboard wheels for cruising after all the research. Our first choice for the best cruising skateboard wheels was Ricta Clouds. Our backup selection was the Sector 9 Race Skateboard Wheels. A runner-up choice was Everland 65x51mm Skateboard Wheels.

Our value pick was the Tiger Boards 59mm Skateboard Wheels. This list offers the best skateboard wheels for cruising with variety and we selected them for the following reasons:
